I have never seen such a fired up cohesive group of people articulating the needs of the parents and educators of this city. Yes I was frustrated and angry with what I was hearing, but what I felt was a grass roots organization taking hold, a group of people organized and capable of making change happen. I for one am very grateful I had the opportunity to be part of such an incredible evening and I will be taking out my frustrations marching on the 4th.
Very excited to get our school community involved.
Indeed! What an inspiring and informative evening. Thank you!!!
It was heartening to see such a turnout and to see that politicians saw fit to show up. I saw Ellie and Michelle scribbling madly on the "solutions" whiteboards. So maybe now we have some momentum and some direction?
You did what no one else has - got voting public school parents out to start voicing the outrage.
This was an amazing night. I just keep looking around in amazement. There were so many people there. Unbelievable. I think everyone walked away tonight with hope and action steps. I'm ready to sue the state and repeal Prop 13! You gave all of our city next steps and the momentum to create change. What a gift to our children!
I'm excited to get on with the next steps!!
In the overflow where people were responding loudly, I was really impressed with the level of knowledge and familiarity with initiatives and reps - I think its a well informed constituency too. And the grassroots organizing format is there through the schools.
The energy was great and I think people feel like it was real kick-off to figuring out how to fix this mess. It was also great to see it as the lead news story last night! I know the Miraloma folks were very galvanized.
I was really impressed with the organization, the outreach, and the overwhelming support that you and the other 1,000 or so people there last night showed in support of public education.

Enough is enough! It's official, the SFUSD budget will be cut $113 million over the next two years. These cuts are even greater than those experienced during the Great Depression. We must find funding solutions and ways to bring about real change.
On February 25th, join a coalition of parents and city organizations in a community discussion moderated by Michael Krasny, host of KQED's awarding winning radio show Forum. Event panelists:
Let's look for funding solutions and ways to bring about long-term change together. We are Funding Our Future.
